Brownie Buddies Overnight Camp
March 29th, Lindsey Lawrence with Eastern Shore Art Center Community Outreach had the incredible opportunity to travel to Bay Minette for the Brownie Buddies Overnight Camp with the Girl Scouts of South Alabama. The event was a wonderful success, impacting 20 students in grades K-3 and 10 adults and chaperones who joined in the fun and learning.
The day was packed with creativity, fun activities, and moments of bonding. One of the highlights of the camp was the guided painting session, where the girls explored their artistic talents. They also worked on a special collaborative piece, which was gifted to the Girl Scouts of South Alabama to hang at their facility, leaving a lasting mark on the organization!
A special tradition at this camp is bringing a plushie along with them to incorporate into their getting to know you activities. Each student brought their favorite stuffed animal along for the ride, and the plushie played a central role in various camp activities and badge earning. One of the most exciting projects was the “Make Your Own Badge for Your Plushie.” The girls designed their own DIY pins for their stuffed animals, showcasing their creativity and personality. These custom pins also sparked engaging conversations among the girls as they shared and compared what they created for their plushies throughout the weekend.
It was truly inspiring to witness the connection the students made with each other and with their stuffed animals, using these projects as a platform for self-expression and teamwork.
Thank you to everyone who made this event possible, and we can’t wait for the next adventure with the Girl Scouts of South Alabama!
