Board Member Spotlight: Katie Sneed

Katie was born and raised in Aliceville, Alabama. “Although living in the country was very fun and adventurous, creativity was always in my genes.” After moving to Tuscaloosa, she started painting with oils when she was 15 years old under the instruction of Julie Jamison, a local Tuscaloosa artist.

From there Katie also attended the University of Alabama and graduated with a double degree in Advertising and Fine Art with a concentration in Painting. Right after college, she taught art at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico for a summer where she was able to expand her love of art and influence young girls who needed a “southern belle” mentor. “This experience changed my life as Georgia O’Keeffe is one of my favorite artists who I look to for inspiration with her use of color.”

Katie currently resides in Fairhope, Alabama with two children, Thomas and Georgie.
