Fairhope, Ala. – The Eastern Shore Art Center (ESAC) has received a $14,000 Creative Places Arts Facilities grant from Alabama State Council on the Arts that will enhance their ADA compliance and update studio lighting. This grant will join a gift from the Hearin/Chandler Foundation and a match from the Single Tax Corporation to finalize the improvements for this project.

The Creative Places Arts Facilities program strengthens Alabama’s creative economy by providing grants for the construction, renovation, restoration, or enhancement of arts facilities across the state. Public funding, through a special appropriation from the Alabama State Legislature, makes these grants possible and is essential for fostering arts, culture, and community growth.

With these funds, ESAC will replace all studio lights with longer lasting LED installments and finalize the replacement of a Handicap elevator between facility floors.

“Our mission is to make the arts more accessible to ALL. While the heart and energy to enhance our exhibit and studio spaces are always present, the financial backing can be more difficult to establish. Organizations like the Alabama State Council on the Arts allow nonprofit art centers to dream BIG and make artistic experiences a reality in Alabama,” says Academy Director Reanna Watson.
