Here, There and Everywhere!
For over a decade – where could you find Cheryl Boyce at ESAC? Here, There and
Everywhere! The gift shop, the front desk, the kitchen, the storage room, the galleries – any place that volunteers were needed!
The Eastern Shore Art Center is grateful for Cheryl and her commitment to volunteerism at the Art Center for so many years. Cheryl began volunteering at ESAC soon after she moved to Fairhope in December of 2010. She attended the January 2011 First Friday Art Walk and realized that ESAC would be a great fit for her talents and energy. She started off with bartending and clean-up duties and soon added front desk responsibilities. Cheryl worked with ESAC’s director to establish a list of major areas where volunteers were needed and began to identify those who might want to help with these efforts.
In 2017 Cheryl took on the responsibility of coordinating the volunteers for the spring Outdoor Art Show. Congratulations and thank-you to Cheryl for her many years of tireless service and a job well done!!
Double Duty
Many of our volunteers serve ESAC in multiple areas. Jim Waters frequently mans the front desk and along with his wife Kathleen Fitch, bartends for many First Friday Art Walks. Caroline Herron welcomes visitors at the front desk and also frequently serves as a bartender for the First Friday Art Walks with her husband Lee. Margie Gewirtz graciously volunteers in the gift shop and at the front desk. Lucia Smith and Linda Gibson volunteer at the front desk and also at the bar for first Friday Art Walks. Terry Delker has volunteered at ESAC for over 20 years!! She works at the front desk and in the gift shop.
Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities
The Outdoor Art Show – held in conjunction with the Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival will be March 17-19, 2023. Volunteers will be needed for the front desk and gift shop for all three days of the festival. We will also need help with hospitality for the artists and decorations for the art center plus a group to help with the Friday artist reception as well as set-up and clean-up for all events in the art center. White Linen Night will need volunteers for their 2023 fundraiser. The date has yet to be decided. Stay tuned for more info in future newsletters.
