Whatever kind of portrait you would like to paint, Kathy will give you valuable information. Watercolor, colored pencil and other mediums will be demonstrated.  Bring good photos of your favorite subject.

WATERCOLOR SUPPLY LIST FOR KATHY SHEPPARD’S CLASS

 

  • 140 lb hot press and cold press paper (I prefer Fabriano)
  • #6 or #8 and #10 Round watercolor brush, preferably Loew-Cornelle #7020 ultra-round (black handle with red band at ferrule) available at: Alabama Art Supply, Cheap Joe’s or through Jerry’s Artarama.
    •  Also, you may begin with only  #6 or #8 and #10 Loew Cornelle Ultra Round brushes.
  • Rigger brush
  • Magic Rub and Kneaded eraser
  • Mechanical pencil #05 lead, drawing paper, tracing paper
  • Palette with a lid (I use a John Pike palette)
  • Kleenex (no-lotion), paper towels, wash cloth, two water containers

 

The following are Winsor Newton professional grade colors I have on my palette:

 

  • Naples Yellow
  • French Ultramarine Blue
  • New Gamboge Yellow
  • Perm. Alizarin Crimson
  • Burnt Sienna
  • Permanent Rose
  • Antwerp Blue
  • Burnt Umber

 

I will have extra paper if you need to purchase from me. 

Alabama Art Supply

Alabama Art Supply has generously offered a 20% discount to ESAC students for supplies. Be sure to check out their website!

A $25 fee will be charged for all class refunds due to a withdrawal. Refunds will be given up to seven (7) days prior to class start date. Thereafter, no refunds will be given, unless the ESAC cancels the class.

 

A $75 fee will be charged for all workshop refunds due to a withdrawal. Refunds will be given up to one (1) month prior to the workshop start date. Thereafter, no refunds will be given, unless the ESAC cancels the workshop.

As of January 1, 2017, the Eastern Shore Art Center will be instituting a quarterly Open Studio fee. Students and/or members who wish to take advantage of Open Studio hours must pay $50 per quarter. This fee will pay for three months of Open Studio hours, as well as firing fees for ceramic items made in Open Studio.

 

Members who signed up for a Supporting Membership in 2016 will not need to pay Open Studio fees until their membership expires, since its benefits included Open Studio participation.
