Are you concentrating too much on small details at the expense of a bolder, more dramatic outcome? Try painting solely with a knife for impressive improvement in your style and techniques.

Create vivid color and light in your paintings by following a four stage process. On the first day Michele will lead you step-by-step through the four stages as we all create a painting with the same reference photo resulting in very individual paintings. On day two after this introductory instruction with illustrated process steps, you will work with your own reference photo with her continual guidance.

Build your creative painting capabilities by joining this workshop with interactive demonstration and individual instruction from artist and educator Michele Traum.

Michele Traum has taught many workshops on the Eastern Shore.  Here are testimonials from her past students:

“Michele is an outstanding teacher with a keen eye for what works and what needs improvement. Her easy-to-understand instruction is combined with unparalleled patience and a gentle spirit. Michele is always encouraging and her criticism is constructive, never demeaning or demoralizing. Under Michele’s guidance, I was amazed at the art I was able to produce.”

“I had an excellent experience in Michele’s workshop with demonstrations, color mixing and individual help. I would definitely recommend this workshop to a friend and also I’ll take it again!”

“This was the best workshop I have had in such a long time. Thank you for your encouragement, patience, expertise and good humor.”

“The individual instruction was well done and helped me execute the process while encouraging my personal style. I enjoyed your teaching style and supportive attitude.”

“Michele is a very generous teacher. She demonstrated the process and then evaluated each student’s ongoing work while providing good insights.”

“This workshop gave me more confidence in overlaying color with a painting knife by using the four stage painting process.”

Michele has always been driven by the desire to create and express herself with art. She paints to capture nature’s beauty – from soft and subtle to bold and dynamic colors. And she teaches her painting process to help artists realize that with passion and drive they can create art filled with light and color.

Michele’s current portfolio includes mostly landscape oil paintings. Her preferred painting method is with a knife because of the immediacy and vibrancy of color it offers. She has found that knife oil painting works very well for applying many colors from subdued to bold, inviting the viewer to find and visually blend these colors to share in the stories her paintings tell.

An award winning artist, Michele’s paintings are included in numerous private art collections throughout the U.S. Her art education includes Rhode Island School of Design along with acclaimed artists Susan Sarback and Michael Chesley Johnson.
