Needle felting is the art of sculpting using wool fiber. “Needling” the fiber with notched needles causes the wool to thicken, allowing it to be shaped. Only your imagination will limit what you can create by needle felting. Many felting artists focus on animals, while some do portraits of pets and people, others may felt large art pieces to be sold in galleries. It is a fun and satisfying craft for those over the age of 12.

For this class we will concentrate on capturing your family pet. Whether your furry friend is a cat, dog, pig, or rabbit, Debbie will show you how to craft a charming replica. These small characters make great gifts and/or décor for the holidays. In this class, you will learn the different types of needles, the differences in wool fiber and how it effects your projects’ outcome, where to get supplies and the basic techniques of how to felt. All materials will be provided. You should be able to complete one animal in this time and depending upon how quickly you work, begin or complete another. Materials provided are yours to take home to finish your project, or create something new.
