Title: Dynamic Woodcuts and Multi Layered Printing Processes

All students will receive a FREE 4 piece wood chisel kit to take home!

This workshop will focus on the basics of woodcut printing from image selection/creation, to block preparation, through multilayer printing. We will create several original artworks using a variety of woodcut printing techniques. On the first day of the workshop, students will replicate one of Walter Anderson’s wood carvings and participate in demos. On day two, Bronco will guide students as they create an original wood carving that will be used to create multi-layered prints on paper and bristol board.

ESAC and Bronco will supply all printing inks, wood blocks, and brayers. All students will receive a 4 piece wood chisel set to take home.

Students should provide the following:

Additional wood blocks (any wood other than pine)

Rubber Gloves

Bronco Sloan received his BFA from Memphis College of Art in 2003 and has taught various art styles and techniques for over a decade. His paintings, sculptures, pottery, and mixed media have been exhibited in several states and in the Netherlands. Recent works explore fear and humor in a societal context. He currently teaches small-format classes and workshops to help children and adults explore their creativity and find their artistic voices.

A $25 fee will be charged for all class refunds due to a withdrawal. Refunds will be given up to seven (7) days prior to class start date. Thereafter, no refunds will be given, unless the ESAC cancels the class.

 

A $75 fee will be charged for all workshop refunds due to a withdrawal. Refunds will be given up to one (1) month prior to the workshop start date. Thereafter, no refunds will be given, unless the ESAC cancels the workshop.
