Support the Arts Grant

ESAC and MuffinJaw Designs will be BLOWING MINDS (and glass art) in 2024 thanks to a Support the Arts Grant Project, “Blow Your Mind”!

In an effort to integrate visuals arts and science, Muffinjaw Designs will visit two area schools with a full day of glass blowing fun. Their travelling hot shop will set up on the school’s campus and will FIRE IT UP! During these on site field trips, the Muffinjaw team will be conducting an educational demonstration for the student and faculty about the applied science within the art of blowing glass. Through the creation of various pieces, students will be able to see the transformative properties of hot glass as it is sculpted into shape from a liquid into a solid. Freddie Blache, one of Muffinjaw’s owners and artists, is eager to begin scheduling the events. “We can impact up to 250 students per site visit! We are eager to really get out to the local schools and do more of these events” says Blache.

In addition to the school trips, Muffinjaw and ESAC are planning on working with the Exceptional Foundation of the Gulf Coast for a two day glassblowing workshop. MuffinJaw is intentional in their design and strives to make the arts accessible to everyone. With the guiding hand of Freddie, Tres, Caroline, and Gage anyone can “Blow Their Own” beautiful piece of glass art.

And the best part of all… these programs are FREE for EFGC and the two lucky schools thanks to the Support the Arts Grant! “ESAC and area artists are enthusiastic about sharing artistic experiences with EVERYONE! While we have the heart and the art, we always need the funding. Without the support of the Support the Arts Committee, Alabama State Council on the ArtsNational Endowment for the Arts, and Alabama Arts Alliance, programs like these would not be possible” says Reanna Watson, ESAC Academy Director. “I also want to thank Muffinjaw Designs for contributing to the project. While the grant covers a majority of the costs, MJD is also donating their time and talents to make the “Blow Your Mind” project a success!”

The Support the Arts Grant has awarded ESAC a $2,000 grant to fund the two school visits and EFGC workshop. This project will impact at least 500 Baldwin county students and differently abled adults. But we can always do more!
