Textural Silk Collage
Explore techniques of manipulating vintage and contemporary silks (and other fabrics) to create your own unique wall art suitable for framing or hanging from a rod. Both sewing and gluing methods will be incorporated. All skill levels are encouraged to participate.

Time: 10 am to 4 pm
Supplies and Tools List:
Fabric scissors
Sewing needles
Glass-headed pins
Tube of E6000 glue
Scotch tape
Sewing thread in your color pallet
Small hammer or mallet
Metal ruler, at least 12”
Exacto knife to cut mat board
Small pieces and scraps of silks, linens, fine cottons
(Solids, prints, textures all ok)
Small found objects you may wish to incorporate.
Instructor will provide for student use:
Various colors of sewing thread
T-pins
Mat board
Students may purchase from instructor on first day:
Heavy weight Pellon interfacing
Limited additional silk fabric scraps
Diana Yum-Bucher
Instructor
Diana Yum-Bucher is best known locally as a jewelry artist and instructor, with 15 years of top awards in several juried fine art festivals. She also is a repeat competitor in the International “Battle if the Beadsmith”. Her ventures into jewelry making began during 40 years of fashion/costume design as “SuzYum”, her garments stressing textile juxtaposition, manipulation, and embellishment…..natural precursors to her embellished textural art pieces. Diana has enjoyed sharing her love of beading and textiles through over 30 years of teaching.
Refund Policy
- A $75 fee will be charged for all workshop refunds due to a withdrawal. Refunds will be given up to one (1) month prior to the workshop start date. Thereafter, norefunds will be given, unless the ESAC cancels the workshop.
