Join artist and instructor Lana Hall for a one-day immersive Batik Workshop, where you’ll explore the ancient art of wax-resist dyeing in a fun and approachable way. In this hands-on session, you’ll learn how to apply hot wax, layer dyes, and reveal beautiful patterns that make batik so distinctive and timeless.
Our featured project for the day is a vibrant silk scarf or wall hanging, a perfect blend of creativity and function. You’ll design your own composition, experiment with color blending, and experience the magic of revealing your final design when the wax melts away.
Lana will guide you step-by-step through the entire process, sharing practical techniques and creative insights. You’ll leave with your finished batik piece, ready to wear or display, along with the knowledge and confidence to continue exploring at home.
All supplies are included — silk, dyes, wax, brushes, and tools. Just bring your imagination (and an apron!).

Lana Hall discovered the magic of batik during her travels to Malaysia in 2013, where she took a course at a local batik factory. Captivated by the craft’s rich history, symbolism, unique technique, and the therapeutic nature of the creative process, she has continued to explore and develop her practice ever since. Working in her own studio and learning from other batik artists, Lana has deepened her connection to this vibrant art form.
Through her work and teaching, Lana shares her passion for batik with others, encouraging her students to adapt the techniques to their own personal style. She believes in the power of creating meaningful, wearable, and decorative pieces that reflect each individual’s creative journey.
