Plein Air Fairhope 2023

ESAC is thrilled to host the 5th Annual Plein Air Fairhope event. 60 artists will be painting the area!

What is Plein Air?

Plein air painting, is the act of painting outdoors. This method contrasts with studio painting or academic rules that might create a predetermined look.

What can you expect from Plein Air Fairhope 2023?

You can participate in Plein Air Fairhope as an artist, student, patron, or audience member.

Oct 28, 2023 @ 10 am-4 pm: “Developing Winning Compositions in Plein Air” with Jeanette Herron, $150 ($125 for ESAC Members)

Oct 30 – Nov 3, 2023: Plein Air Fairhope Paint Out – Painters will paint the town from sunrise to sunset!

Oct 31st, 2023 @ 10 am to 11 am in the Whiting Gallery – Join PAF Judge Cat Pope for a Gallery Talk and Judge’s Notes 

Nov 3, 2023 @ 6-8 pm: Plein Air Fairhope Exhibit opening at November Art Walk

Nov 4, 2023 @ 9-11 am: Plein Air Fairhope Quick Draw – Join the Plein Air Fairhope artists at the Fairhope Pier and try your hand at Plein Air painting

From sunrise to sunset, 60 artists will set up throughout the city with portable easels, chairs, and umbrellas. Work created during the “paint out” will be available for purchase in our ESAC Wet Room Oct 30 to Nov 2   @ 10 am – 4 pm / Nov 3 @ 10am-2pm.

Work from each artist will then be on Exhibit opening Nov 3 @ 6-8pm at First Friday Art Walk thru December 29, 2023. Gallery hours: Tues-Fri 10 am-4 pm and Sat 10 am to 6 pm.

Nov 4th, 2023 @ 9 – 11 am

Artists are invited to participate in a community Quick Draw on Saturday, Nov 4th from 9 am to 11 am. The event will be held in the park to the left of Fairhope Pier. The public may participate for a donation. The event is free to all Plein Air Fairhope artists.
