Christopher R Murray is a fine artist, oil painter, portraitist, illustrator, graphic designer, and concept artist based in the Southeastern US. His style combines the techniques and traditions of the Great Masters with modern cultural and literary influences. He works in oils, digital media, spray paint, charcoal, graphite, and pen and ink.
Murray has created cover art and illustrations for historical, science-fiction/fantasy, and children’s books published by Horse Creek Publishing, Grandma’s Cabin Books, and Author House Free Press, as well as various regional magazines and publications. In 2009, he appeared on NBC News demonstrating spray paint art techniques. His painting “Post-Apocalyptic Landscape II” won the Mobile Press Register CLA award at the 2007 People’s Art Show in Mobile, AL and “Ukulele Hell Jamboree” won 1st place in the 2011 Soul Kitchen Music Art Contest.  He is often commissioned to paint oil portraits of humans and pets, and has completed various murals and T-shirt designs for Southeastern businesses and organizations. He regularly exhibits at art festivals, conventions, and galleries, currently including the Eastern Shore and Orange Beach art centers.
Murray studied painting and art history at The University of South Alabama from 2001 – 2006 and is currently teaching academic drawing and painting classes in Baldwin County. He lives on a pine tree farm on the Alabama Gulf Coast with his wife, two beagles, one cat, four donkeys, two cows, and a horse. When not working on the visual arts, he composes music and gardens.
