Wind Creek Hospitality Awards $2,500 Grant to Eastern Shore Art Center for Outreach Programming
FAIRHOPE, AL – The Eastern Shore Art Center is pleased to announce the award of $2,500 from Wind Creek Hospitality in support of its Outreach Program. For more than two decades, the “Art Without Limits” program has served those in our community who may not otherwise have exposure to art, including children, the deaf and blind, those with chronic illnesses or disabilities, veterans and senior citizens.
Bryant Whelan, Executive Director of the Art Center, said, “The twenty-year strong outreach program, led by Nancy Raia, fulfills a huge part of our mission. But each year the need for our outreach far outweighs the resources available to serve those who stand to benefit most from the healing power of art. The grant from Wind Creek Hospitality will be a huge boost to helping the program continue to thrive.” said Whelan.
The Outreach program led by Nancy Raia historically has served nearly 3,000 children and adults in the community each year. Since 2020, social distancing and other restrictions significantly reduced ESAC’s impact. “My programming has adapted and shifted due to quarantines, including revamping some lessons to a virtual format,” explains Raia. “I spend more time teaching via Facebook or YouTube these days.”
Whelan said that Wind Creek executives told them that the outreach program marries well with their mission to serve children through education. “This program allows us to support the community beyond the walls of our physical building with education and enrichment activities for those who in some cases have never been to the Art Center,” said Whelan. “The grant from Wind Creek is a big boost for our community.”
