Recent Online Auction Artists4Paws Raises $6,000 for The Haven!

Written by ESAC Community Outreach Director, Nancy Raia

Thank you to everyone that participated in our fundraiser, Artists4Paws!

It was a HUGE success! We are grateful to our sponsor, Prestwood Law Firm, and the Eastern Shore Art Center and staff for hosting the fundraiser. Artists4Paws honors Susan “Min” Wright by raising money in her name for her beloved no-kill shelter, The Haven.

We would like to thank the Chair and Co-Chair of the event, Rose Ann Haven of WKRG 5 and Pam Hunter. Thank you also to Rose Ann Haven of WKRG News 5 as our chair, and Pam Hunter as co-chair. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to all the professional artists who donated their skill and talents: John Oldshue, Judy Oxford, Stacey Howell, Anke Sanders-Meyer, Patty Johnson, Stephen Savage , Chris Riley, Debi Parnell , Beth Cowan Drake, Sarah Cook, Ashley Raia, Gabe, and so many more. To our four pawed artists, Lucky Ducky, Copper, and Marinara, we thank you, too!

You are the best!

Of course, Min would want a huge shout out to the students who made the bulk of the show; the generous hours of the National Charity League of the Eastern Shore creating so many canvases and the sweet group from the Exceptional Foundation on the Eastern Shore who came and played with me making wonderful art!

As individuals arrived to pick up their winnings, I was greeted with wonderful stories of their own “rescues” and why they love supporting the Haven. Some were honoring loved ones that are waiting over the “Rainbow Bridge”. Featured are my new friends from New Orleans. They arrived at ESAC after evacuating from Hurricane Ida. I encouraged each of them to “choose a pet” of their own. The family graciously donated to the fundraiser, exclaiming that they love helping rescues.

If you haven’t yet picked up your purchase, stop by the ESAC front desk to do so. Be sure to check and see if you paid on your bids too on the online auction, you need to press “buy now” in the email that confirmed you won).

I can assure you Min would be giddy with the outcome! We have surpassed $6000, can’t give a total yet as money and donations are still coming in !! Yippee! Or woof woof and purrfectly done!

Check out the last photo, Sunshine gave me lots of kisses upon delivering her portrait! She was the rescue from The Haven that brought “the sunshine “ back into the home of the owners, Mr. and Mrs. Mapp! They said she loved her picture being on tv with Rose Ann Haven’s story!
